SlimBieden was born out of our own frustration with the overheated Dutch housing market. After a viewing, you often have to decide almost instantly whether to bid the equivalent of half a year’s salary on top of the asking price. We noticed that the advice given for sums this large is often based on calculations you’d scribble on the back of a beer coaster. It’s crazy, really! Buying a house is one of the most important decisions of your life. You want to make it as well-informed as possible.

That’s why we, three friends with backgrounds in econometrics and accountancy, decided to investigate whether the winning bid on a house could be predicted based on its specific features and current market conditions. After a few promising preliminary analyses, we moved on to a full econometric study. We leverage the latest academic breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and financial econometrics. When our model consistently delivered exceptionally accurate results, we decided to give everyone the chance to use it. And that’s how SlimBieden came to be.
